Poland wants to develop modern defence sector technologies with foreign partners, the country's deputy prime minister said at the opening of the International Defence Industry Exhibition in the southern city of Kielce.

Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, also Poland's development minister, pointed out South Korea's ability to marry modern technologies and defence policy, and said Poland wanted Seoul and other partners, especially NATO allies, to develop various industries in both the private and public sectors.
Meanwhile, Poland's defence minister said modernising Poland's army would cost some PLN 550 billion over the next 14 years.
Officials from 27 countries, including Austria, Belgium, France, Spain, Israel, Canada, Germany, Norway, South Africa, Turkey, the UK and Italy, are at the expo, which ends on Friday.
More than 600 companies are at the expo. Half of them are Polish, the rest include Airbus, Bell Helicopter, Boeing, Leonardo, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Saab Technologies and Eurofighter. The Polish defence forces are looking to update helicopter, fighter jet and submarine fleets. (vb/pk)
