Meanwhile, Deputy CEO Sławomir Jędrzejczyk and board member Piotr Chełmiński on Monday said they did not want to stay in their positions, Orlen said in a statement. The refiner has not said why.
Jasiński’s new term will start after an annual general meeting on 30 June.
The last three-year term started in May 2014, with Jacek Krawiec at the helm of the company.
Krawiec was replaced in December 2015 by Jasiński, who served as treasury minister under the 2005-2007 Law and Justice (PiS) government.
PiS returned to power after a landslide win in October 2015 elections.
One other board member was ditched during the three-year term that ends this month, and replaced with two new ones, taking the boards’ count from five to six members. According to Orlen’s regulations, the board must have between five and nine members.
That means that Orlen’s supervisory board will need to choose only one person in place of both Jędrzejczyk and Chełmiński.
Orlen made a record net profit of PLN 5.4 billion (EUR 1.3 billion) last year, an improvement of PLN 4.3 billion (EUR 1 billion) from net profits in 2015. (vb)
