Polish consumers PLN 32 bln in debt

According to the KRD Economic Information Bureau register of debtors, Polish consumers owe PLN 32.5 billion (EUR 7.5 bln /USD 7.96 bln).

The register, which includes debtors whose debt exceeds PLN 200 (EUR 46/USD 49) and is more than 60 days overdue, currently lists 2.23 million people.
KRD President of the Management Board, Adam Łącki, told the IAR news agency that the average debtor in the register is a man aged 36-45, living in the Mazowieckie or Silesian province, with the average debt of approx. PLN 18,300 (EUR 4,222/USD 4,482).
The record holder, a 52-year-old man from the Pomorskie province, owes PLN 18 million (EUR 4.15 mln/USD 4.4 mln) to the banking sector.
Once the debt is paid off, a debtor must be removed from the register within 14 days. (mol/pk)
