The programme has been put together by the Polskie Gry (Polish Games) association, the largest grouping of its kind in Poland.

Until now, the criteria for taking advantage of support programmes favoured other industries.

However, the growing success of Poland's video game industry appears to have turned heads.

The positive recommendation by experts has given the green light for a programme aimed at computer gaming,” commented Kamil Meltzer, a spokesman for the NRDC, as cited by the Puls Biznesu daily.

The phase of negotiations will concern how much funding will ultimately be provided by game developers.

Polish companies have found international fame thanks to hits such as The Witcher and the Sniper: Ghost Warrior series, as well as The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. (nh/rk)
