According to data compiled by Casus Finance Group, the largest proportion of debtors can be found in the so-called Generation X, namely those aged between 34 and 48, particularly men.

However, women tend to get into dire financial straits at a later age.

Over 50 percent of Poles still live with their parents until the age of 35, a key factor in loan patterns.

In general, men get into financial trouble earlier than women,” commented Krzysztof Różycki, Executive Director at the Casus Finance Group.

On the basis of over 160, 000 cases we have found that the typical Polish man who is struggling with repayment problems is about 47 years old.”

However, in the bracket of Poles born between 1948 and 1966, 51.9 percent of those getting into difficulties with repayments are women.

Among seniors, the discrepancy is even more marked, with some 62 percent of unreliable debtors being women.

Overall, the largest number of debtors can be found in Lower Silesia in the south-west of Poland.

The only area where ineffectual female debtors outnumber male ones is in the central Łodż region. However, loans taken out by men there are for larger amounts of money. (nh/rk)
