Hundreds stranded abroad as tour operator is insolvent

The Intertour company announced on Friday that it is unable to repay its debts.

According to the Province Chairman's Office of the Małopolska region (which includes Kraków), as many as 179 people are currently on a foreign trip with the company, which is now not able to bring them back.

Authorities say that these holidaymakers will be returned to the country in the next few days.

The office told the PAP news agency on Friday that Intertour’s business activities were insured, and the insurer will pay for the return of these tourists.

PAP reported that coaches will bring back a total of 74 people – 29 tourists from Bulgaria, as well as 26 from Croatia and 19 from Montenegro.

Other trips in early August will see the return of an other 105 tourists. (rg/rk)
