The biggest threat associated with eurozone membership is the loss of competitiveness, rather than an increase in prices, said Finance Minister Mateusz Szczurek.

In his opinion, the survival of the eurozone lies in deeper integration.
“The rise in prices associated with the adoption of the euro is an often-cited argument against the adoption of the euro, but it's not the greatest threat," Szczurek told the PAP news agency.
"The biggest threat associated with membership in the eurozone is the danger of imbalances, and loss of competitiveness, which is very difficult to improve without changes in exchange rates. These macroeconomic factors are, in my opinion, much more important and more serious than such microeconomic concerns that the price of a cup of coffee increased slightly,” the Minister said. (rg)
