Poultry exports to non-EU markets spike

Exports of livestock, meat and poultry products to markets outside the EU grew 42.8 percent year-on-year in January-April 2015.

Exports were 57,480 tons, the Foreign Agriculture Markets Monitoring Team (FAMMU/ FAPA) reported, citing European Commission data.
EU countries exported overall in the same period to non-EU markets 441,130 tons of poultry, a rise of 2.5 percent year-on-year.
Poland’s share of EU poultry exports is 13 percent.
The largest recipients of Polish poultry exports were African countries, Benin and South Africa and Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong.
Exports to Russia in the period declined to almost zero due to the poultry ban imposed by the Kremlin in August 2014. (jh)
