A member of the rate-setting Monetary Policy Council (RPP), Jerzy Hausner, has said that a hike in interest rates is extremely unlikely.

“If someone is today building their economic calculus based on an assumption of the permanence of the current interest level, when it comes to the nominal [interest rates] level, one can – in my opinion – rest assured over the course of more or less one year,” Hausner told the PAP news agency.
“But later the new RPP will certainly have to consider a rate hike,” Hausner added.
The benchmark interest rate in Poland stands at a record-low 1.5 percent, much higher than the ECB reference rate of 0.05 percent. (rg)
