UAE mulls 'world's biggest residential investment' in Poland

United Arab Emirates property development company Emaar is back in talks about the possible construction of an exclusive district in one of Poland's major cities.

The concept was revived with delegates of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, whose visit to Poland wrapped up on Tuesday.
Emaar first put forward the idea a year ago, but apparently no appealing offer was found.
However, while the sheikh's delegation was in Poland over the last few days, offers were made by Kraków, Łódź, Gdańsk, Sopot, Poznań and Warsaw, according to the Polish ambassador in Abu Dhabi, Professor Adam Krzymowski.
The ambassador said that Emirati delegates are “most interested in Warsaw” at present.
Małgorzata Panek-Kasińska, president of MK Business Link, a consulting firm that works with companies in the Middle East, has said “the Emiratis are ready to realise the world's biggest investment right here in Poland.”
Meanwhile, Krzymowski has indicated that specialists from the UAE could return to Poland later this month to survey possible sites. (nh)
