The textile industry is one of the ministry’s 15 priority sectors for export promotion, Piechociński said at the Fashion Fair Ptak Expo at Rzgów near Łódź in central Poland.
The ministry will pay subsidies in tens of thousands of złoty to coalitions of two or three firms aimed at promoting exports.
Poland plans to showcase its fashion and textiles at this year’s Milan expo, the minister also said.
At present, 17,000 firms in the textile and clothing industries employ some 150,000 people, Piechociński said, making Poland the EU’s eighth-largest market in terms of sales. (an)
