Polish eateries ‘smelly and dirty’, complain patrons

Over a half of Poles have dined in eateries in the country (52 percent) over the past year.

However, a survey by ARC Rynek i Opinia for Newsweek Polska shows that reservations most often aired by them were related to the poor taste of the meals on offer (61 percent) alongside dirty spaces (55 percent).

Fifty-four percent of the respondents pointed to stale ingredients used in preparing the dishes. Fifty-two percent were highly critical of the lack of hygiene in the toilets or the unpleasant smell in the restaurants.

Only one in five of respondents claims to eat out more than once a month. The majority of that figure – some 65 percent – are most keen on pizza chains, followed by other chain restaurants and local eateries. Only 37 percent go to high-end places with white table cloths and elegant tableware.

When choosing their options, the factors most often listed by the respondents included the taste of the food, attractive pricing, and location.
