Construction is about to get under way for Poland’s pavilion for EXPO 2015 in Milan.

The pavilion, whose theme is based around an apple orchard, is to cost some 60 million zloty (around 12.5 million euro), and will showcase Poland during the EXPO in Milan between May and October next year.

The EXPO, which is being held under the slogan “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”, is to include some 150 countries.

Head of Poland’s pavilion and the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency, Slawomir Majman told Polish Radio that “work is being finalised on the scenario of Poland’s pavilion, its interior and narrative”.

The pavilion is to highlight “Poland’s imperial nature of its agriculture and food economy,” and while accompanying cultural events are almost finalised, Majman added that “six Polish regions will have their own themed weeks”.

However, the slogan and mascot of Poland’s pavilion is still being kept under wraps, Majman underlined.

The last time Poland exhibited at an EXPO was in Shanghai in 2010, with the country’s pavilion garnering the attention of more than 5 million visitors. (jb)
