Polish weekly Wprost estimates that Grazyna Kulczyk's personal fortune is as high 2.4 billion zloty (568.6 million euro).

Her most notable ventures include the purchase and regeneration of a former brewery in Poznan, her home city. The so-called Stary Browar complex (Old Brewery) was converted in 2003 and currently houses a shopping centre and an art gallery.

In recent years, she has invested in internet enterprises and new medical ventures in the United States. She has also invested in London's wealthy Mayfair district, and in a Swiss brewery. She is a prolific collector of modern art.

Barbara Komorowska, wife of former senator and businessman Zbigniew Komorowski, comes second on the list. She is the main shareholder in Polish dairy giant Bakoma, whose yoghurts and cheese products provide competition to international concerns such as Danone. Her fortune is estimated at 1.49 billion zloty (352.8 million euro).

In third place is Aldona Wejchert, widow of entrepreneur and media mogul Jan Wejchert. She remains the biggest shareholder in the ITI Group, which controls the TVN network. Her fortune has been estimated at 1.35 billion zloty (319.8 million euro). (nh)
