Some 7273 guitarists jammed together on Tuesday in the south eastern city of Wroclaw, notching up a new world record with a tribute to iconic rock star Jimi Hendrix.

The eccentric annual event was held on Wroclaw's Main Market Square, with the late rock legend's brother Leon Hendrix leading the musicians this year.
As tradition dictates, the guitarists played “Hey Joe,” one of Hendrix's best-loved, but least challenging numbers.
All participants were registered and given IDs, with organisers approving electric, acoustic, classical and bass guitars.
The bid to create the world's largest ensemble performance on guitar dates back to 2003, when 588 musicians riffed together on Wroclaw's Main Market Square.
The record had been unbroken since 2009, when 6346 enthusiasts descended on central Wroclaw for the event.
However, to the delight of yesterday's revellers – who were relieved from work owing to the May Day holiday - the 7000 mark has now been breached for the first time. (nh)
