An exhibition of posters to films by the famous Polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski has opened in Toronto.
In addition to posters by Polish designers, it includes works by artists from Spain, Italy, Israel, Japan, the United Kingdom, France and Germany.
The exhibition is located at the Steam Whistle Gallery, close to one of the city’s major tourist attractions – CN Tower and Rogers Center.
The event is a run-up to the International Film Festival, which opens in Toronto next week, with three Polish films on the programme: Agnieszka Holland’s In Darkness, Paweł Pawlikowski’s Woman in the Fifth and Malgorzata Szumowska’s Elles.
During the festival, the Kieslowski exhibition will move to the event’s main venue.
Krzysztof Kieślowski (1941- 96) was universally acclaimed as one of the masters of modern European cinema.
He established a worldwide reputation with such films as The Decalogue series, The Double Life of Veronique and the Three Colours trilogy. (mk)
