Sporek was born into a Polish-Greek family with strong artistic traditions. His father, Wojciech Sporek, is a musician and teacher, while his Greek mother runs a ballet school.
The production of The Nutcracker has proved a huge popular success. Athan Sporek is billed in 25 performances until the end of December.
Athan’s grandfather, Janusz Sporek, who is a well-known conductor and promoter of Polish music in the United States, has told the Polish Press Agency that, apart from attending the prestigious Mark Twain School for the Gifted and Talented and the School of American Ballet, Athan attends the Henryk Sienkiewicz Saturday Polish School in Brooklyn. He can speak and read in Polish.
The boy made his Broadway debut as Gavroche in the musical Les Miserables at the age of seven. He has also appeared in several other productions, including The Dangerous Book for Boys (2018), The Knick (2015), and Odd Mom Out (2015).
