A series of quakes, measuring up to 7.5 on the Richter scale, hit the country's Central Sulawesi province a little over a week ago, triggering a tsunami. Some 1,800 people were killed and 500 remain missing.
Aleksandra Zabłocka of the Polish charity said the Indonesians affected by the tremor are in desperate need of clean drinking water, without which there is a risk of disease.
"Water contamination caused by damaged infrastructure and a lack of basic hygiene increases the risk of an epidemic," Zabłocka said.
She added that clean water was key to preventing an outbreak of cholera or typhoid fever. (vb)
