Flights, which first appeared in Poland in 2007 under its Polish title Bieguni, has been translated into English by Jennifer Croft and published by Fitzcarraldo Editions.
Other books on the longlist for this year's Man Booker prize are by authors from France, Spain, Germany, South Korea, Argentina, Hungary, Austria, Iraq and Taiwan.
A total of 108 books have been considered by a panel of five judges.
The shortlist of six books will be made public on April 12 and the winner of the 2018 prize will be announced on May 22 at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Fifty-six-year-old Tokarczuk is among the most popular and critically acclaimed Polish writers. A psychology graduate, she made a name for herself at a young age with a collection of poems, several novels and books of short prose. Flights won her the prestigious NIKE Polish literary prize. Two other of her books, Primeval and Other Times and House of Day, House of Night, are also available in an English translation.
The latest feature film from Polish director Agnieszka Holland entitled Spoor was inspired by Tokarczuk’s novel Drive Your Plough over the Bones of the Dead.
