The session will be held on 2-12 July 2017.

“UNESCO is one of the most prominent UN institutions [and enjoys] enormous prestige and importance, so this kind of World Heritage Committee session – a very important committee related to UNESCO – is simply prestigious. From an image standpoint I think this is very important,” Gliński, who is also Poland’s Culture Minister, told the IAR news agency.

Gliński added that the organisation of the event is part of Poland’s efforts to become a non-permanent member of the Security Council at the UN.

“This confirms the role, prestige and high position of Poland,” Gliński said.
