Xmas difficult for Polish women

Most Polish women believe all responsibilities to prepare for Christmas fall on them.

In preparation for Christmas festivities there is a lingering belief that if (female) hosts do not put a lot of effort into their duties, the dinner atmosphere will be worse, the co-author of the scientific book Polish Women (Polki), Katarzyna Pawlikowska, told reporters.
Eighty-five percent of the women surveyed for Pawlikowska’s work would like more equality in their family, with increased participation of their male partners in household duties.
Despite this, 66 percent of Polish women believe that caring for the home and family is more important than advancing in their careers.
According to Pawlikowska, one in four Polish women, fall into the category called “unfulfilled strongwoman”: they are tired of daily life, have missed big opportunities, and take care of themselves last. (ua/rg)
