Giddens receives honorary doctorate

Upon collecting the award on Tuesday, the Professor recalled his time working at the London School of Economics, where – as he pointed out – there are many outstanding Polish professors and fellows.

Professor Giddens admitted that during his work, he also came into contact with politicians and other people performing important functions in Poland.

The scholar also addressed the issue of higher education. He drew attention to the traditional role of universities, which “fulfill a fundamental role to the public”, but should move with the times and change in the era of globalisation. (rg)
