Entitled ‘State of Life: Contemporary Polish art within a global circumstance’, it features over sixty works by some of the most renowned artists, both living ones, such as Paweł Althamer, Katarzyna Kozyra, Mirosław Bałka, Zbigniew Libera and Wilhelm Sasnal, and those who were active in past decades, from the 1920s onwards, such as Władysław Strzemiński, Katarzyna Kobro, Andrzej Wroblewski, Alina Szapocznikow, Tadeusz Kantor, and Jerzy Nowosielski.
The exhibition brochure says that “State of Life asks important questions about the contemporary form of Polishness and the possibility of its globalization.”
The show follows the success of 'Treasures from Chopin's Country', a major exhibition of Polish art that closed on 10 May.
The current exhibition is on view until 24 June. As part of bilateral exchange, an exhibition of contemporary Chinese art is planned for next year at the Art Museum in Łódź. (mk/nh)
