Black Keys launch Open'er Festival

US duo The Black Keys headlined the first night of the Open' er Festival in Gdynia on Wednesday, launching Poland's biggest music festival of the summer.

It was the first time that the American pair have played in Poland, and the eclectic rockers – fresh from performing at Glastonbury in the UK - were greeted with rapturous applause by fans.
The festival, now in its thirteenth year, has become an eagerly followed event on the international circuit, and about a quarter of revellers come from abroad.
Besides music fans from across the border in Germany, Scandinavians were in abundance, as well as devotees from the British Isles.

Following on from the Black Keys, forthcoming headliners in the four-day festival are Pearl Jam, Jack White and Faith No More.
Back-up comes from Lykke Li, The Horrors, The Afghan Wings, Ben Howard, Wild Beasts as well as Polish artists including Artur Rojek and and Kuba Sojka.
This year, festival organisers have also incorporated some avant-garde theatre into the programme.
The 13th Open'er Festival ends on 5 July. (nh)
