Dark Horse, which is famed for hit comics such as Hellboy and Sin City, will release the first instalment of the new series on 19 March.

The US publishers are working with CD Projekt RED, the Polish company behind the best-selling Witcher computer game series.

“We’re very happy to be working with Dark Horse Comics, which is one of the biggest and most interesting comic book publishing houses in the world,” commented Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt RED.

The Witcher tales follow the adventures of monster-slayer Geralt. In the first Dark Horse story, Geralt enters a mysterious mansion in the land of Angren, on the fringe of the Black Forest. There he must confront the ghost of a murderous woman.

It is not the first time that The Witcher has been adapted as comics. Dark Horse follows two Polish series, the first released the 1990s, and the second in 2011. (nh)
