Leading lady of the 1988 movie Grazyna Szapalowska was among those to attend yesterday's screening at Warsaw's Kino Kultura.
The film was originally shot as part of Kieslowski's acclaimed Decalogue series, in which each of the Ten Commandments was explored in a separate work.
Two of the Decalogue films were extended and screened on the international festival circuit (the other becoming A Short Film about Killing).
A Short Film about Love focuses on “Thou shalt not commit adultery”, and follows the story of Tomek, a young Varsovian Peeping Tom who spies on Magda (Szapalowska), a promiscuous woman who lives in the opposite apartment block.
The reconstruction was carried out as part of the ongoing, publicly-funded Kino RP project.
Since 2008, Kino RP has overseen the digital reconstruction of over 140 Polish feature films.
Classics that have been restored thus far include Andrzej Wajda's The Wedding, Wojciech Has's The Hourglass Sanatorium and Andrzej Munk's Eroica. (nh)
