Manhunt and Imagine share glory at LA Polish Film Festival

Marcin Krzysztalowicz's WWII drama Manhunt and Andrzej Jakimowski's Imagine took the Hollywood Eagle Award for best film.

The event, which marked its 14th edition this year, employs a jury composed of members of America's Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Manhunt is a gritty exploration of the plight of insurgents in the forests of Nazi-occupied Poland. The film has already created a splash in Poland, winning the main prize at both Krakow's Off Plus Camera Festival this year, and at the Eagles awards of the Polish Film Academy.

Imagine tells the story of Ian, a spatial orientation instructor who is hired by a world-renowned Lisbon clinic to work with blind patients.

Meanwhile, the Piotr Lazarkiewicz Award for emerging young talent went to actor Bartosz Gelner, and director Julia Kolberger.

Sponsors of the Los Angeles Polish Film Festival include the Polish Film Institute, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, POLAM, the Polish Filmmakers Association anf the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Los Angeles. (nh)
