Yoko Ono to play Poznan music festival

Yoko Ono, wife of the late John Lennon, will be playing a concert with Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore in Poznan, western Poland on 7 August.

The concert will be part of the Transatlantyk Poznan International Film Festival.

Yoko Ono and Thurston Moore will be playing tracks from last year’s experimental album, YOKOKIMTHURSTON (see video below).

Yoko Ono - who celebrated her 80th birthday in February - is also the winner of this year's Transatlantyk Glocal Hero Award, given annually by the festival to “outstanding personalities whose local and global actions have shaped the modern world,” the festival web site says.

Last year’s Transatlantyk Glocal Hero Award was received by classical composer Krzysztof Penderecki and his wife Elżbieta.

On Wednesday it was announced that John Lennon’s one-time songwriting partner Paul McCartney will be playing a gig at the National Stadium in Warsaw on 22 June. (pg)
