Komorowski lays flowers on Lech Kaczynski street, Georgia

President Bronisław Komorowski and First Lady Maria have placed flowers on the promenade of Lech and Maria Kaczynski in Batumi, Georgia, as part of a six-day tour of the South Caucasus region.

The tribute was made in honour of the tragically killed presidential couple, who died in a plane crash near Smolensk in April 2010.
The late head of state was considered a friend of the Georgian nation. Following the catastrophe, many of Georgia's cities named streets after Lech Kaczynski.
Yesterday, the Polish president met with his Georgian counterpart, Mikheil Saakashvili, at the Black Sea resort town of Batumi, where ty discussed Georgia's prospective integration into the European Union and NATO.
Bronislaw Komorowski and his wife are travelling to Tbilisi today, where the president is to take part in a Polish-Georgian economic forum.
Since the Georgian-Russian conflict in 2008, Poland and Georgia have strengthened not only diplomatic ties, but also business contacts, says First Secretary of the Polish Embassy Piotr Burzyński.
"From my observation, interest in Georgia as a business partner is definitely on the rise," he told Polish Radio.
A number of Polish companies are currently operating in Georgia, in fields including chemical and food industries, as well as in the construction sector.
The visit, which is part of the presidential couple's six-day tour across South Caucasus. The president is arriving at the next stop of the trip, Armenia, this evening. (ab/pg)
