Polish FM to discuss Eastern Partnership at EU meeting

Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz was on Monday scheduled to attend a high level conference in Brussels to mark the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership, according to the foreign ministry in Warsaw.

Czaputowicz, EU foreign ministers and top diplomats from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine were to summarize cooperation within the Eastern Partnership programme and discuss the future of the initiative.
The Eastern Partnership, an initiative by Poland and Sweden, was launched in 2009 to forge closer political and economic ties between the EU and its eastern neighbours.
Czaputowicz was also scheduled to attend a meeting of EU foreign ministers to discuss preparations for the 6th Western Balkans Summit in Poland in July.
The Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting was expected to focus on the situation in Libya and in the Sahel, which is a region in north-central Africa stretching from Senegal to Sudan.
