The 8th Summit of Heads of Government of Central and Eastern European Countries and China in southern Croatia was expected to focus on ways of deepening business ties, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported, citing a spokeswoman for the Polish foreign ministry.
"When it comes to business relations with China, we can offer more and we believe that China can also offer more," the spokeswoman, Ewa Suwara, said.
Leaders from 16 Central and Eastern European countries and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang were scheduled to attend the "16+1 Initiative" summit.
In addition to Poland and China, the so-called "16+1" group brings together Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia.
