In Prague, presidents mark 20 years in NATO

Poland’s president was on Tuesday expected to join his counterparts from the Czech Republic and Hungary in Prague to mark exactly two decades since their countries joined NATO.

The leaders were expected to take part in anniversary celebrations at Prague Castle in the Czech capital.
The event was due to be attended by Poland’s Andrzej Duda, the Czech Republic’s Miloš Zeman and Hungary’s János Áder.
Slovak President Andrej Kiska, whose country joined the Western military alliance in 2004, was also scheduled to take part.
Duda said on Monday that becoming a member of NATO 20 years ago definitively underlined Poland’s emergence from the Russian sphere of influence.
The prime ministers and defence ministers of the four Visegrad Group countries marked the anniversary in Warsaw on Sunday.
The Visegrad Group is a regional cooperation platform that brings together Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
