North Korea’s nuclear programme remains a threat to global security, Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz has said at the United Nations, where he attended a Security Council session.

Czaputowicz welcomed North Korea’s announcement that nuclear tests would be suspended, noting that a testing site had been destroyed, but added that “we are yet to see if this trend will continue in the future.
Czaputowicz said that peace on the Korean peninsula should be achieved via peaceful means.
He said he was satisfied with efforts taken at a summit in Singapore earlier this year to denuclearise North Korea and that he was hopeful that US-North Korean talks would continue, reiterating Poland’s earlier sentiments.
Earlier this year, US President Donald Trump met North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore after tensions between the countries soared.
