Mateusz Morawiecki at noon laid a wreath in a Warsaw park at a monument to Poles who were killed in the 9/11 terror attack in New York.
Almost 3,000 people, including six Poles, died after hijacked planes slammed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, 17 years ago in what was the deadliest terror attack on American soil.
As America marked the 17th anniversary of the attacks, hundreds of survivors and family members of those killed were on Tuesday expected to gather at Ground Zero, where the twin towers stood in New York before two hijacked commercial flights brought them down.
President Donald Trump was expected to attend a ceremony at the 9/11 memorial in Shanksville, near where United Airlines Flight 93 crashed after passengers tried to regain control from the Al Qaeda-affiliated terrorists who had hijacked the plane.
