"Britain can count on Poland's support in all areas related to solving this case," Michał Dworczyk, head of the Polish Prime Minister’s Office, said, as quoted by the wpolityce.pl online news service.
A former Russian intelligence agent convicted of spying for Britain is suspected to have been poisoned with an unknown substance in Salisbury, southern England, The Telegraph daily reported last week.
According to the Politico news service, at least two people, former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, “have been left extremely sick due to the alleged nerve agent.”
A former agent with Russia’s FSB security service, Colonel Skripal arrived in Britain in 2010 as part of a prisoner exchange, according to The Telegraph. Prior to that he was jailed in Moscow for spying for Britain, the British newspaper said.
"We see the problems that are generated by the Russian Federation in Europe and everything indicates that this is what we are dealing with in Britain,” Dworczyk told wpolityce.pl in an interview, when asked about the alleged attack in Britain.
Meanwhile, Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki tweeted on Wednesday that UK leader Theresa May “has a firm ally in Poland.”
He also wrote on his Twitter account that “Britain’s security is crucial for NATO and the EU.”
