Foreign ministers from Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic at a meeting in Warsaw on Wednesday also said that the EU should offer a “European perspective” to interested Eastern Partnership countries – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine – at a summit in Brussels in November.
At the same time, the Visegrad Group (V4) foreign ministers said they backed a differentiated approach to relations between individual partner countries and the EU.
They also said they were satisfied with recent European Commission efforts to define 2020 aims for the partnership, which governs the EU's ties with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski said: "We would like the Eastern Partnership to bring the Eastern Partnership countries closer to the European Union, and at the same time to significantly increase the quality of life in these countries.
"So we want the Partnership program to accelerate, to be more comprehensive and to involve people and their standard of living.”
