Polish murder suspect's English fiancée protests his innocence

Piotr Kupiec is due to be extradited to Poland in connection with Kraków gangland crimes as well as the murder of a football fan, after being on the run for eight years.

The 28-year-old was arrested this month while working at a branch of sandwich chain Subway in the town of Devizes, south west England, where he had assumed a false identity, taking the name of Łukasz Gluch.

However, the suspect's partner Jenny Stickley is protesting his innocence.

“That’s my partner and I love him,” she wrote on her Facebook profile.

“He would never harm a fly.

“Don’t worry Lucas I’m doing everything in my power to prove your innocence.

“And if anyone has anything bad to say they can go f*** their selves [sic]. He is a good man.”

It is understood that Kupiec had told his partner that his parents had died in a car crash, and that he did not get on with his brother.

“We are all very shocked,” Stickley's mother said, as cited by UK paper The Daily Express.

“I’ve since been told his parents are still alive and he has more than one brother in Poland.”

The 20-year-old attempted to visit her partner in Wandsworth Prison, London, where he is currently being held. However, she was not permitted to see him. (nh)
