Italian daily Corriere della Sera writes the speed at which issues are changing in Poland has been matched by Brussels, notorious for its slow decisions in such matters.
“The Polish government has not yet been in the driving seat for three months following the election victory of nationalist conservative Jarosław Kaczyński, and already the new government in Warsaw led by Beata Szydło is under special observation,” the Italian daily writes.
Meanwhile, in an article entitled “Beata on the warpath”, Russian government daily Rossiyskaya Gazeta quotes Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo, who announced: “The time when Polish authorities conducted foreign policy on their knees has ended.”
The daily adds that recent moves by the Law and Justice government in Poland in relation to the Constitutional Tribunal and the public media alarmed European politicians so much that they decided to see if Poland had violated the rules of the European Union. (rg/pk)
