It is to be held on 5 December in the town of Chimbote, with Cardinal Angelo Amato, Prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Causes of Saints, celebrating a mass.
Michał Tomaszek and Zbigniew Strzałkowski were abducted from their mission in Pariacoto to a local cemetery and executed there by the guerrillas on 9 August 1991. They were 31 and 33 years of age, respectively.
Less than three weeks after their martyr’s death, Italian priest Alessandro Dordi was also killed by Shining Path. He will be beatified during the same ceremony.
A thanksgiving service for the beatification of Polish Franciscans is planned in the Franciscan Monastery in Kraków on 5 December. (mk/nh/rk)
