Prime Minister Kopacz said that the Polish consulate in Kharkiv is in constant contact with the Polish community in eastern Ukraine.
“Today I do not know anything about any [such contact],” the head of government said. “We will continue the aid which we have provided so far. Both in the form of scholarships, but also in the form of material aid that we transport across,” PM Kopacz added.
Ewa Kopacz noted that the Polish consulate in Kharkiv is in constant contact with the Polish community.
“We not only provide day-to-day support, but in the long run we provide financial and material support, and in another form, even by transporting goods, which are directed there,” the Prime Minister said.
In January, 178 ethnic Poles were evacuated by the Polish government from the Donbas region. The reason for the evacuation was the ongoing conflict in Ukraine with pro-Russian separatists. Upon arrival from the Donbas region, a total of 76 families were settled in two centres in the northern Warmia-Mazury region. With time, they were joined by relatives, and the number of refugees has risen to nearly 200. (rg/rk)
