Jerome Mullen's pleas came after a rash of attacks on homes in the Tiger's Bay area, north Belfast.
"It's quite shocking what's happening,'' Mullen said.
The consul stressed that action "must come from the top to have this stamped out once and for all.''
Windows were smashed at a house rented by Poles on Friday, and Mullen noted that two similar attacks had occurred in the space of a week.
The incidents took place in a Protestant area.
Mullen said politicians need to "step up and condemn what is happening to this community and offering whatever support they can provide.''
North Belfast MP Nigel Dodds described the incidents as ''appalling'' and noted that ''the police are treating these attacks as racially-motivated hate crimes which makes them all the more despicable.''
Attacks on Poles have increased over the last two years, and it is not the first time that Mullen has been compelled to speak out on the matter. (nh)
